WBUQ provides coverage of TKE memorial service

BLOOMSBURG - In light of the recent tragedy of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fire, WBUQ 91.1 FM has stepped up as an additional news source for the campus and community.

WBUQ, Bloomsburg University’s student-run radio station, aired the memorial service last evening in Mitrani Hall in Haas, according to Public Affairs Director Eric Lansberry. The station also aired the 11 a.m. briefing that Dr. Kozloff gave on Monday, March 20-the day after the tragedy.

"WBUQ is pleased to serve as a viable news medium to keep the pubic informed in this time of tragedy," Lansberry said.

The station also aired news updates the day of the tragedy on March 19. Representatives from the station were at the media press conference and the briefing for the students at 3 p.m. that day, according to Lansberry. The news was played on-air every half-hour to give the listeners a constant update on the situation, Lansberry said.

WBUQ 91.1 FM is a student-run radio station, serving Bloomsburg University and the surrounding community. WBUQ operates seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Interested listeners can call the station request line at (570) 389-2891. Other questions or comments can be directed to the station office at (570) 389-4686.
