WBUQ announces start of new programming season
BLOOMSBURG—-WBUQ 91.1 FM, Bloomsburg University’s radio station, has announced the beginning of its fall operating season. WBUQ, the Revolution, is a student-run radio station that operates 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week.
WBUQ has been off the air since mid-May for the summer break. The station’s first show will feature Alyssa Rudloff and Bob O’Boyle, opening up the airways Friday morning, with an alternative music show. Nearly 75 fellow student disc jockey’s follow Rudloff and O’Boyle throughout the programming week. Thirteen students comprise WBUQ’s executive staff who oversee the daily operations of the station.
"As a campus and community-oriented station, we are pleased to have the opportunity to provide programming that benefits both the campus and community while still providing a sound learning experience for the DJ’s," said Greg Albert, General Manager for WBUQ.
Bloomsburg University professors are also included in WBUQ’s programming schedule. Chemistry professor, Dr. Michael Berg, known as the "Cactus Kid," airs an oldies show from 4-6 p.m. on Mondays. Dr. Maria Teresita Mendoza-Enright, a mass communications professor, also airs an hour-long, award-winning program, "Echoes of Our World."
WBUQ’s programming schedule includes alternative, classical, metal, classic rock, 80’s, RPM, ska, rap, and R&B music. The station features hourly news and weather reports, as well as a community notebook that announces campus and community events.
WBUQ’s remote director, Bryan Klementisz, organizes community-oriented remote broadcasts which in the past have included blood drives and benefit concerts for Big Brothers/Sisters organization.
"Through our remote and on-air broadcasts, we strive to satisfy the listening interests of everyone on the campus as well as in the community," Albert said.
